Specify XYZ Data Item

The Specify XYZ Data Items option is used to specify an individual XYZ data set within a data source, such as an Excel file. This option is available in the File menu. In the TableCurve 3D Explorer, it is found in the right click menu for the data source item, or if the data source is a spreadsheet file that has been expanded, it is found in the right click popup menu for each of the individual sheets.

This option operates on a data source or its individual worksheets. The source must first be added to the notebook using the Import Data Source procedure. The specification applies only to the selected item in the TableCurve 3D Explorer. For spreadsheet files, this means that the X, Y, and Z columns must all come from the same sheet.

For data sources where the X, Y, and Z are defined, as in TableCurve 3D's default ASCII export format, this option is not available.

Column Selection

This option will open a column selection procedure for the X, Y, Z and optionally a weights variable. The graphical preview is helpful in assuring the correct variables have been specified.
