ASCII Export

You can export generated Curve-Fit information to an ASCII file. The file is created via the Save ASCII option in the File menu of the Curve-Fit Graph. You can generate the data with or without confidence and prediction intervals.

Structure of Exported ASCII File

  • The X,Y with Confidence Limits item writes generated information based upon X values determined by the values in the Start, Incr, and End fields. This generated section will contain the predicted Y value as well as confidence and prediction intervals. The initial values in the X generation will produce a block of 100 points. The confidence value used will be the value currently set in the Intervals option.
  • The X,Y Only option writes only the X,Y information defining the curve-fit in a two-column format.
  • You can choose either Space, Comma, or Tab delimiters.
  • You can also set the Precision from 3 to 18 significant figures.

After the file is written, you are presented with an Exported ASCII File Display.

Note that it is also possible to generate a columnar XY ASCII file from the Curve-Fit graph's Evaluation option. XY ASCII files generated in the Evaluation write the XY data in columnar format with 17 digits of precision and space delimiters, and can optionally include two additional columns with either confidence or prediction limits. If you need to generate XY data based upon X values contained within a file, you must use the Evaluation option.
