Edit Custom Equation Set

This option is used to configure a custom equation set for TableCurve 2D's Automated Fitting. You can select linear families of equations or specific non-linear equations to be included in the equation set that is fitted. The equation selections apply only to the Curve-Fit Custom Equation Set fitting option.

Equation Selection

When you check a linear selection in the Standard, Polynomial, and Rational groupings, you are selecting an equation family. Some families have only a small number of equations while others contain a very large number. The TableCurve 2D equation families are listed in the appendix of the manual and can be viewed by using the F2 Equation Help item in the main menu's Help.

When you check a non-linear equation in the Peak, Transition, Kinetic, or Other groupings, you are selecting a specific model. In many cases, a non-linear model consists of both intercept and non-intercept forms. The intercept type is set in the Curve-Fit Preferences, available directly from the dialog via the Options button. Note that the number of non-linear equations will depend on whether only one or both of the Intercept or Zero-Intercept versions are selected.

The TableCurve 2D non-linear equations are listed in the non-linear equations section of the manual and can be viewed by using the F2 Equation Help item in the main menu's Help.

Many of the groups contain an All button that selects all of the models or families and a Clear button that unchecks all models or families currently selected.

Fit Controls

Linear and non-linear fitting controls for fitting this custom equation set are configured in the Process menu's Curve-Fit Preferences option. To set these controls from this custom equation set dialog, click the Options button.

Fitting this Custom Set

Use the Fit item to immediately fit the equation set within this dialog. This is the same as using the Curve-Fit Custom Equation Set Process menu option.

Saving a Custom Equation Set

Use the Save item to save the current equation set to disk. The default file extension is FIT. These are binary files that can only be produced within the program. Custom fit files can be recalled at anytime. The current custom set is always saved across sessions. Save custom sets to disk if you plan to use more than one custom set in your work.

Reading a Custom Equation Set

Use the Read item to read a custom equation set. The current settings will be updated to reflect this new set. You may also use the Read Custom Equation Set Process menu option to read a custom set.

Reset

The Reset button simply restores the settings to the state that existed at the time the dialog was opened.
