Stream to MS Word¶
TableCurve 2D offers a means to stream all information in reports and graphs to Microsoft Word. Word 95, Word 98, and Word 2000 are supported. This option automatically opens a file in MS Word and places reports and graphs directly in the document.
Considerations¶
- Once a stream is opened by specifying a file and having Word automatically opened, the stream remains open so long as this file has the active focus within Word. This open file remains the stream target until Word is closed, until the file is closed in Word, or until another file is made active within Word.
- The connection between TableCurve 2D and Word is usually broken in Word, not in TableCurve 2D. In Word, you must close the target file for the stream, change to a different file, or close this instance of Word. The connection is broken by TableCurve 2D only when it is closed.
- The stream source is not saved across TableCurve 2D sessions. If TableCurve 2D is closed and restarted, a new Word file must be specified and a new instance of MS Word is launched.
- Word locks all files being edited for its exclusive use. You cannot specify a file as a stream target if it is already open in Word. To append to an existing file, you must first close this file within Word. It can then be specified as the stream target.
- When the Word file is first specified, there is an option to overwrite an existing file or to append streamed information to the existing content.
- You can freely edit the contents of the information within Word while the connection between TableCurve 2D and Word remains in place. New information is always appended to the end of the Word file.
- This procedure utilizes the Windows clipboard, replacing existing clipboard content with the stream content.
Text Windows¶
The contents of text windows in TableCurve 2D are directly streamed to Word when the Stream to MS Word option is used from the text window's File menu. Except for the first-time specification of a file, the only evidence of this transfer will be in Word.
Formatting, if present, is automatically preserved and carried over to Word. For Black and White text, uncheck the Color option in the Style menu.
The Word file is automatically saved after each stream has been sent.
