ASCII Editor¶
The ASCII Editor option opens a special TableCurve ASCII Editor window designed specifically for editing the program's X-Y data table as an ASCII text file. For editing and copying contents of the various text windows within TableCurve, there is an ASCII Editor item in the menu of the specific text window of concern. This data table ASCII Editor option is provided for those who prefer to input or edit a data table as a simple ASCII file using a familiar NotePad-like editor.
Size Limitations¶
In Windows NT and Windows 2000, this editor should be able to handle any size data table up to TableCurve's 65536 maximum. In systems limited to 16-bit edit controls, such as Windows 95 and Windows 98, the editor is limited to a 64K buffer. On such systems, files imported into the editor larger than 32K are automatically stripped of all whitespace except the necessary delimiter in order to maximize editor capacity. This allows up to about 1500-2000 points.
Automatic Update¶
When the ASCII Editor is opened, its contents will reflect the current data table. You can edit the data or you can open and edit any ASCII file. When you exit the editor, you will be offered the option of updating the TableCurve data table with the current contents of the editor. If you choose not to save revisions made to the data table, the modified data are automatically saved to tblcurve.prn. This file will be listed as the data table's file source in the TableCurve 2D status window.
Background Thread Fitting¶
If Background Thread Fitting is active, the fitting will be initiated as soon as the data table is updated upon exit from the editor. If you enter the editor and make no changes, background thread fitting is not affected.
